How much does the course cost?+
$47.95, or $37.95 with code SV10 at checkout. That covers the course, the final exam, all 3 attempts, electronic reporting to the MVC and your mailed certificate. Nothing is added at the payment page. Faster certificate delivery is available as an option if you need it.
How many points does it remove?+
The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission removes 2 points from your driving record when you successfully complete an MVC-approved defensive driving course.
How often can I take it?+
Once every 5 years for the 2-point reduction.
How long does it take?+
New Jersey requires the course to run at least 6 hours. Online, that is up to you — do it in one sitting, or a chapter at a time across several days. Your place is saved every time you sign out.
Can I really start right now?+
Yes. Fill in the registration form, pay, and you are in the course. Nothing is approved or scheduled in advance.
Does this satisfy a court-ordered defensive driving requirement?+
Yes. If a judge ordered you to complete a defensive driving program, this NJMVC-approved course meets that requirement. Check the deadline on your court paperwork and register with enough time to finish before it.
Will I get an insurance discount?+
Many New Jersey insurers offer a discount to drivers who complete a defensive driving course. The amount and duration vary by company. Present your Certificate of Completion to your insurer to find out what applies to your policy.
Is there an age limit?+
No. Drivers of any age may take this course.
Will I be tested?+
A 50-question multiple-choice final exam, 80% to pass. Everything on it comes from the chapters. If you do not pass, you may retake it up to 3 times at no additional charge.
How does the MVC find out I finished?+
We report your completion to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission electronically. You do not submit anything yourself.
When does my certificate arrive?+
Mailed the next business day after you pass. Standard mail takes 7 to 10 business days. Email, 2-day and overnight upgrades are available at checkout.

Use the Sign in link at the top of the page. You can sign in and out as often as you need. If you cannot get in, call 1-844-305-9920.
How do I pay?+

Is my information safe?+
Your registration and payment details are transmitted and stored securely. We do not sell, rent or share your email address or personal information, other than reporting your course completion to the State of New Jersey as required.
What is your refund policy?+
Contact our support team and we will work it out. In most cases students are eligible for a full refund within 90 days of payment, provided they have not attempted the final exam and their completion has not been reported to the MVC or a certificate issued.
