Court-ordered
Court-Ordered Defensive Driving in New Jersey
If a judge ordered you to complete a defensive driving course, the thing that matters is the date on your paperwork. This course is NJMVC-approved, satisfies a court order, and can be started and finished the same day.
What to check on your paperwork
Three things decide whether you are comfortable or cutting it fine.
- Your deadlineEverything works backwards from this. Six hours is the state minimum, so if your date is close, register today rather than tomorrow.
- Whether the court wants proof directlyWe report your completion to the MVC electronically, and you receive a Certificate of Completion by mail. Some courts want that certificate filed with them as well — check your paperwork, and if it is unclear, call the court that issued it.
- How your certificate arrivesStandard mail runs 7 to 10 business days. If your deadline is inside that window, choose email, 2-day or overnight delivery at checkout.
